My name is Esperanza Flores Jimenez, and I’m the Extended Care Teacher at Montessori Explorer. I’ve always loved being around children, and that love is what led me to pursue a path in early childhood education. My journey began as a practicum student, and from the start, I was drawn to the unique and thoughtful ways Montessori supports children’s learning. Watching children grow in a space that encourages independence, respect, and creativity has been incredibly inspiring.
A big part of what drew me to this field is my passion for learning about and supporting children with disabilities. I have family members and loved ones with disabilities, and that personal connection has made me want to better understand how to offer compassionate and informed support from an early age. I believe every child deserves to feel seen, understood, and safe.
Being around children has helped me realize that this is exactly where I’m meant to be. Since my teenage years, I’ve found so much joy in building connections with kids—getting to know their personalities, earning their trust, and being someone they can feel safe with. One of the things I love most about my work is how freely children express themselves—whether they’re telling silly stories, laughing, playing, or creating. Their honesty, creativity, and light-heartedness bring me back to my own inner child, and I’m constantly reminded of how beautiful it is to simply be yourself.
While I’m still growing in my understanding of the Montessori method, I’ve been amazed by how it supports children in becoming capable, confident, and independent. Even in Extended Care, I love creating an environment where each child’s individuality is respected and where creativity can shine. I want every child I work with to feel seen, heard, and celebrated for exactly who they are.
