My name is Litzy Azpe, and I am a lead teacher in the O’Keeffe classroom. I am 25 years old and was born on July 22. I come from a Mexican family, and my first language is Spanish. I began my teaching journey by completing my practicum hours at Montessori Explorer, where I am currently working. I have now been a teacher for one year. I am passionate about the Montessori method because of the way it allows children to learn through hands-on materials and real-life experiences. I strongly believe in giving children the freedom to explore and learn independently, which is the heart of Montessori education.
I love that the children bring out my playful side. During circle time and music time, I enjoy dancing and singing along with them. During playtime, I take moments to join in their games, and seeing the joy on their faces reminds me that I am in the right place, doing meaningful work that brings happiness to children.
I strive to teach children the values of respect, kindness, gratitude, and perseverance—encouraging them to never say “I can’t.” What brings me joy every day is hearing their laughter and the sweet sound of “Ms. Litzy, Ms. Litzy” calling me.
Working with children has taught me so much. Every day, I learn something new from them. I’ve come to understand that each child has their own learning style and strengths, and that their curiosity shines in unique ways.
In my free time, I enjoy listening to music, organizing my space, spending time with my family, and caring for my dog. I also love crocheting, a skill I learned in elementary school thanks to my mom’s guidance.
I earned my Child Development degree from Southwestern College, and I am committed to continuing to grow as an educator and to support the children’s learning journeys with joy and purpose.
